Tim Fords Lake Sunrise

Tims Ford Lake is located in the counties of Franklin & Moore Tennessee. The 10,000 acre lake was created with the damming of the Elk River by the Tims Ford Dam. The Tennessee Valley Authority completed lake construction in 1970. In addition to providing recreation, Tims Ford Lake also generates electrical power and is a water source for the local area.

Tims Ford Lake Recreation Opportunities

The lake provides sports enthusiasts and families with a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. Activities at the lake include, boating, camping, fishing, picnicking, wildlife watching, swimming, sailing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, water skiing, hiking and biking.

Tims Ford State Park

A main attraction at the lake is the Tims Ford State Park. The TN State Park features a marina, large selection of rental boats, campgrounds, cabin rentals, hiking & biking trails, fishing and a golf course.

Camping and Cabin Rentals

For campers Tims Ford State Park features 2 developed campgrounds that have both tent and RV campsites. Campground amenities include, electricity, showers, restrooms, playgrounds, and dump station. Island camping is also available with permit. Cabin rentals are available at the State Park and at some of the marina locations.

Boating

For boaters there are a number of marinas and boat ramps located throughout the lake that provide easy access to the waters of Tims Ford Lake. A wide selection of boats are available for rent at the marina locations including pontoon boats, jet skis, fishing boats, and ski boats. All types of water vehicles are welcome at the lake from paddle boards, canoes and kayaks to sail boats, power boats and house boats.

Fishing

Tims Ford Lake provides excellent fishing opportunities. Fish species include, striped bass, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, hybrid bass, sunfish, catfish, and bluegill. Fishing is permitted from the banks of the lake, fishing piers and by boat. Fishing boat rentals are available at some marinas. A valid Tennessee State Fishing License is required.

Public Use Areas

There are numerous public use and public boat ramps located throughout the lake. The amenities vary by location, some include boat ramps, fuel dock, picnic facilities, swimming areas, and parking.

Golf Course

The Tims Ford Lake State Park features and award winning Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. The 18 hole Bear Trace golf course incorporates Tims Ford Lake into it's design and provides a challenge for all level of golfers.
